This Privacy Policy describes how Memora handles information when you visit the website, create an account, upload PDFs, and use study sessions. It is written for transparency and is not legal advice.
1. Information we collect
We collect account information such as your email address, authentication identifiers, and basic profile records needed to run your account. We also collect study data you add or generate in the app, including subjects, curricula, exam dates, available study time, uploaded PDF metadata, extracted topics, flashcards, card ratings, sessions, reviews, quiz answers, and mastery or scheduling state.
When you upload a PDF, Memora processes the file to extract topics and flashcards. Depending on your plan and settings, this may include selected page ranges, full document processing, and subtopic extraction.
2. How we use information
We use your information to authenticate you, create and manage subjects, process PDFs, generate study materials, run flashcard and timer sessions, calculate spaced repetition schedules, estimate mastery, enforce plan limits, show dashboard progress, debug errors, maintain security, and improve reliability.
3. AI processing
Memora uses Gemini to extract topics and flashcards from PDFs, generate subtopics, and create quiz questions. To provide these features, relevant PDF content and study context may be sent to the AI provider for processing. Do not upload content that you are not comfortable having processed by third-party AI infrastructure.
4. Service providers
Memora relies on third-party providers to operate the app. Supabase provides authentication, database, and related backend services. Gemini provides AI processing. PostHog provides product analytics. Hosting and deployment may be handled by providers such as Vercel and Railway. These providers process information only as needed for their role in operating Memora.
5. Product analytics
Memora uses PostHog to understand how the app is used — for example, how many study sessions are started and completed, where people stop during setup, and whether PDF processing succeeds. This helps us find and fix friction. Analytics events are tied only to a random account identifier; we do not send your name, email address, or any PDF or study content to PostHog, and automatic capture of page contents is disabled. PostHog processes this data on our behalf, hosted in the European Union.
6. Cookies and local storage
Memora uses authentication cookies and browser storage so you can stay signed in and continue setup flows. The app also uses session storage for temporary context such as the selected subject, rating flow, or redirect state, and stores a random analytics identifier used by PostHog. These items support core functionality and product analytics rather than advertising.
7. Data retention
We keep account and study data while your account is active or as needed to provide the service, comply with legal obligations, prevent abuse, resolve disputes, and maintain backups. If you delete subjects or study materials, related records may be removed from active views, although backups and logs may persist for a limited period.
8. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational safeguards, including authenticated API access, Supabase row-level security policies, and server-side authorization checks. No internet service can guarantee perfect security, so avoid uploading highly sensitive personal, medical, financial, or confidential information.
9. Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We share information with service providers as needed to run Memora, when required by law, to protect the rights and safety of users or the service, or as part of a business transfer such as a merger, acquisition, or asset sale.
10. Your choices
You can choose what study material to upload, delete subjects or materials where the app provides controls, sign out, and stop using Memora. You may request access, correction, or deletion of your account information through the support or contact channel provided by Memora.
11. Children and students
Memora is designed for students, but it is not intended for children who cannot legally consent to use online services in their location. If you are under the age required by your local law, use Memora only with permission from a parent, guardian, school, or other authorized adult.
12. International use
Your information may be processed in countries other than where you live, depending on our service providers and hosting infrastructure. By using Memora, you understand that information may be transferred and processed across borders.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy as Memora changes. If changes are material, we will take reasonable steps to make the update visible in the app or on the website.
